Help Shape the Paranormal Science Initiative
We are in the early stages of building a New Hampshire–based nonprofit research organization. Right now, one of the most impactful ways to help is to serve on the founding Board of Directors or on a working group that supports the board.
Board members are volunteer leaders who help set direction, ensure good governance, and keep the organization aligned with its mission. If you have experience in science, ethics, law, finance, nonprofit leadership, or community organizing—and you care about careful, evidence‑based study of anomalous phenomena—we would be glad to talk with you.
Board of Directors: Founding Roles
What the board does
- Defines and safeguards the mission and values of the organization.
- Oversees governance, budgets, and long‑term strategy.
- Supports fundraising and relationship‑building with donors and partners.
- Ensures ethical and legal compliance, including oversight of human‑subjects research and data protection.
What we are looking for
We are especially interested in people who bring one or more of the following:
- Experience in science, statistics, psychology, ethics, or IRB/human‑subjects work.
- Skills in nonprofit governance, law, accounting, or financial management.
- Experience with philanthropy, fundraising, or foundation work.
- Thoughtful, open‑minded interest in consciousness, anomalous experiences, and careful investigation of extraordinary claims.
Time commitment (approximate)
- 3–4 board meetings per year (virtual or in person).
- Occasional review of documents (bylaws, budgets, research summaries).
- Optional participation in committees (e.g., governance, finance, research advisory).
If you are interested in helping as a founding board member or advisor, please use the contact form on the Board of Directors page.
Volunteer Roles Beyond the Board
Not everyone wants to serve on a board, and we expect to build a broader circle of volunteers over time. Depending on your skills and comfort level, future volunteer roles may include:
- Research support (non‑participant)
- Helping with data entry, transcription, and basic quality checks under staff supervision.
- Assisting in setting up equipment and monitoring sensors during field investigations.
- Technical and IT support
- Supporting our open‑source experiment software, website, or secure data infrastructure.
- Community liaison and outreach
- Helping interface with local communities around reported phenomena.
- Assisting with public events, talks, and educational materials about our methods and findings.
- Communications and design
- Editing plain‑language summaries of research.
- Helping develop graphics, diagrams, or web content that explain what we do.
All volunteer roles will come with clear expectations, basic training, and attention to ethical considerations, including confidentiality and appropriate boundaries with research participants.
Current Status: Volunteer Roles Not Yet Open
We are still formalizing our nonprofit structure, governance, and initial research program. Because of this:
- We are not yet accepting general volunteers for operational roles.
- We are open to hearing from people who may want to serve as founding board members or specialist advisors as the organization takes shape.
If you are potentially interested in board service or specialized volunteering (e.g., statistics, IRB/ethics, nonprofit law, IT security), please reach out with:
- Your name and location.
- A brief description of your background.
- Areas where you might like to contribute.
We will keep your information on file and follow up as roles become available.
How to Express Interest
We are currently forming our board and early research team; some roles are exploratory while the nonprofit and IRB arrangements are finalized.

Please include “PSI Volunteer Interest” in the subject line. This does not commit you to anything; it simply opens a conversation about how your skills and our needs might align.
